UEG published the White Book 2 on the burden, economic impact, research gaps and the key findings from the Pan-European study on digestive diseases and cancers.1 The data showed that colorectal cancer is responsible for the highest proportion of cancer-related deaths in Europe.
Between and , there has been a 33% increase in the incidence of colorectal cancer cases and a 19% increase in the deaths. The increase in cases is linked to several modifiable risk factors, across 44 countries, such as an increase in alcohol consumption, smoking, and body mass index (BMI).2
